Re: The Graveyard
The Greatest Death of All Time...
Dinner-time, and I was ravenous after a long days hard work. I made my way down to the Great Hall, trying hard not to be trampled by the barrage of ferociously disrespectful students, who were probably just as hungry as I was, only quite a lot more forthright than I was.
I took my seat at the Staff Table, as I always did. The food did not come right away, so I was forced to make meaningless conversation with my peers, though I expected they were going through the motions, just as I was; we were all waiting, as hungry as the next.
The Grey Lady floated towards our table, making conversation with the professor on my right. I turned my head, trying to avoid being pulled into another conversation, when all that was on my mind was my stomach.
They were discussing something in an article the professor has read that morning at breakfast. I had already read it, so my interest plummeted further.
I must have been further sidetracked that I expected, as I didn't notice the Grey Lady had drifted away towards the Ravenclaw table, and the professor was talking solely to me now.
"...Pumpkin juice?" I caught, as the goblet was offered to me.
A little drink in my stomach might help still my hunger, as I wait for all the godforsaken students to take their places.
I raised the goblet to my lips, sipping slowly. It was bitter, not like pumpkin juice normally tasted. I glanced at the professor, my head spinning.
And as I slipped from my chair, the dull thud of my head on the stone floor hardly registering to me. All I saw was a face above me, the hazy face of the professor; like an angel.

Re: The Graveyard
I stalked down the dungeon corridor, footsteps swift as I made the rounds. The Headmistress' death earlier that night had sent the castle into a frenzy; no one was sure who had done it. Since poison had been used, I knew some suspected me, but the rest of the staff knew better. The potions master, using poison for murder? How absurdly obvious.
My deepest fear was that one of my students were to blame. They were boastful children, and I did not think any of them capable of murder, but I'd been wrong before.
My footsteps slowed as I neared the end of my sector.
My blood froze in my veins as I heard it; footsteps that had been in perfect time with my own, only noticeable now that I had changed my pace. I spun, wand held in a defensive position before me.
My grip slackened only slightly when I saw who it was. "Professor," I said in greeting, nodding curtly at my colleague. "What brings you to the dungeons?"
"Just a little errand," the figure responds.
I hesitate only briefly. "Ah. Well, I was just finishing my rounds. If you'll excuse me?" I don't wait for a response, heading to the upper floors to report my colleague's suspicious behavior to the acting Headmaster.
I don't get very far before a voice calls out, "Avada Kedavra."
My last thought is for my students. 'At least they are not to blame.'

Re: The Graveyard
I didn't know who the person was, so I had no choice at the moment but to follow suit until I do.
The cold night found me walking the halls of Hogwarts like I usually do, milking the silence it had to offer for me to contemplate my day. I couldn't sleep again, and I knew why: there was a killer out there, nobody knew who, and my Ravenclaw thirst just had to be quenched. My classmen told me it was dangerous to roam the halls that night, but they all knew as well as the next guy that curiosity trumphs over self-preservation when it comes to Ravenclaw.
Somehow, instinct told me to look around the Dungeons first. The cold, moist feeling didn't help remove the unease that was starting to build as I trudged the hall.
As I turned a fork, movement caught my eye.
The first thing that came to mind was to enter the broom closet next to where I stopped. I swiftly closed the rickety door behind me and pushed my ear on it to listen outside.
The door swung open.
"Oh! Professor it's... thank goodness, I thought..."
"Yes? What did you think?" Professor replied.
"That you...it's silly, but I thought that you were...were the..." my eyesight shifted to the lifeless body of Professor Lildanni a few steps away from the door.
"No...You couldn't be... I trusted you!" I yelled. No one was there to hear it except us two.
"I'm sorry," Professor muttered, and pointed a firm wand at my forehead. "Avada Kedavra!"
How could you do this, Professor? I trusted you...

Re: The Graveyard
Looking around, Victoria quickened her pace. There had been more and more murders. The Head of Slytherin, a poor Ravenclaw boy... Who would be next?
She entered the empty Charms classroom, locking the door behind her. Here, she could be alone and mull over the deaths. But she wasn't alone.
'Professor!' She exclaimed in surprise when she turned. 'I'm sorry, I didn't know you- What are you doing?'
She watched as the professor simply raised their wand. 'Goodbye,' they whispered.
'Professor, I thought you were my friend.'
'AVADA KEDAVRA!'

This is an odd murderer. I mean. She killed everyone by Avada Kedavra, except me.

Re: The Graveyard
But the motive? and the cause? I mean, if we hadn't actually seen the deaths from the people, there would be no way they would link the poisoning with the other deaths (Sorry, that's my Law classes kicking in).
The murderer would be believed to be a different killer - its just something I want to writers to think about. Don't take the easy, cliche root of the Unforgivable.
Another thing people need to think about is the actual use of the Avada Kedavra curse. It is proposed to be the most evil curse of all time, and the only people whom can REALLY stomach using it, is Death Eaters and Voldemort himself. I hate the way people have turned it into a curse which means almost nothing.
That's why I picked poisoning, it is VERY subtle, and not as sickening to the killer.
You all implied that Alex was capable of killing by using the worst curse imaginable.
I mean, if I was guessing (as in, I was the detective), then I would have quite a time, thinking which one of you would be willing to use it.

Re: The Graveyard
Jeeze. That's technical.
Yeah. I recon we should all die the same way, or similarly.

Not the same, unless you take a twist with it.
MM - recon is not a word, darling. (Reckon - it took me forever to get it right).

Re: The Graveyard
Elle, I'm a 12-year-old.
Please excuse my crappy spelling.
I wish when I was twelve someone had told me, and saved me all that time. Just helping, darling. I had a writing sister when I was fifteen, and she made me the writer I am today.

Re: The Graveyard
Sorry, I didn't mean to start a trend with the Avada Kedavra'ing. See, I wrote a fic (not posted[yet]) where Ravenclaw invented the spell. Her 'book of shadows' or whatever you wanted to call it is a Horcrux:
“I’ve read everything there is to be found about the Hogwarts founders. Ravenclaw was a fiercely intelligent witch, possibly the best that has ever lived, to this day. She didn’t care if a spell was considered “good” or “dark.” If it was magic, she wanted to know about it. Eventually it got to the point where she had nothing left to learn. That’s when she was said to have started this book. She started creating her own spells. Some, she created by accident. Some of the darkest spells we know today, including Avada Kedavra, were created by her. Some of the best spells we have were, too.” Hermione fell silent for a moment, looking at the book with a mixture of yearning and revulsion. “It’s said that the book is where she kept her most successful spells, and worked on her theories for new ones.”
My theory here is that no spell is innately 'evil.' It's all in how you use it.
She originally intended it to end the lives of terminal patients, whose deaths would have been cruel otherwise.
...So, that's where that came from, if anyone cares.

Lol. Sorry, I didn't mean it as "Gosh, I'm 12, you should know"
Kind of thing. It was a more "I suck, haha, I'm laughing at myself" kind of thing.
