I will loose any respect that i have/ever have had if they make it so Ron never comes back. Ronneeds to come back. There was a point to the whole thing... of course, their track record is never the greatest with understanding the points of things in the book....

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
I dunno....I kinda think that when they escape gringotts is a good place to end. We see they get together, we can see something of Voldemort realizing his horcruxes are being destroyed and Harry realizing that one is hidden at hogwarts (to set up plot for second half) and then finish it off with an epic scene of the dragon flying off into the distance as they watch it or something.
I just kinda thought it would be a sweet ending to watch a dragon fly off. ^^

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
Hm...the dragon flying off does sound like a good place to cut it. Does anyone know if they're cutting Dobby out or not? If they are, then there's a high possibility of the dragon flying off being the cut off point.

They can't cut Dobby out! He needs to be remembered.
The dragon flying off sounds good, which makes me think that they wont cut it there...lol.

lol naturally. They cut dobby they'll probably cut anything that requires any decent animation. Wouldn't be surprised if they cut the whole dragon thing out entirely.

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
Stupid WB! They cut out everything good, and mash lots of parts together, and then the story is completely different!! Grr....
Wonder how they will do the resurection stone bit?? You know with Lilly, James, Sirus...I've forgotten if Remus is with them as well...that's so sad.
See what school does, it makes important facts fall out of the back of your head and replaces it with things like endocytosis and math equations.

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
:nervous laugh: As Alex had said, knowing WB they'd cut off everything. Anything that requires money, cut cut cut.
I don't think Remus was in that scene, no.
That would be kind of sad if they cut the dragon part. It would've been a nice cut off point and it goes along with how they've ended most of the other movies.

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
If they dare cut Dobby out I will murder them very painfully!!!
The first time I read the book the only time I cried was when Dobby died!! It was so sad!!!!!
Second time I cried when Sev died - that was sad to - he risked his neck daily for all the people he despised, all for Lily, and then he got killed doing it ... and all he wanted was to see Lily's eyes one last time ... it was all for Lily ... -tears-
James sucks.

I say cut it right when Ron comes back and he's staring down the Horcrux. Have them cut it right before he stabs it for a nice cliff hanger that'll drive the masses insane.

it'd kill the masses sure but they've got to know that that a cliffie wouldn't be too much of a cliffie, I mean anyone who read the book knows what happens and anyone who it bugs could always just read the book! Stupid WB, omly the true fans are watching anyway, just do it one long movie with an intermission! Sheesh

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
Knowing WB, they'd want more money. It's also possible that they make up something to make it a cliffhanger for HP fans as well (which would be very annoying for us).
Asaelia, I'd have to agree with you. James suck. =.=...

Well yes they could, but they do have to consider the people who've never read the books as well. And they are out there. My husband is one of them. He absolutely loves the movies, so much so that after we saw Order of the Phoenix at Imax last year he kept bugging me about when Half Blood Prince was coming out. You should have seen his disappointment when he found out it was pushed back to July of next year.
Anyway, WB has to appeal to the general movie audience as well as the fans. It's a balancing act that's tough to pull off. Some do it well (Lord of the Rings is an excellent adaptation) others not so much. You have to remember that it's a completely different medium we're talking about here and what works on paper just might not work on film. For me as long as the core elements of the story is there, then I'm fine. If my husband and our friends who've never read it understand what's going on then it's completely fine because there are details in the book that will just make the movies bloated and uninteresting to people like him.
*sigh* Sorry to get all tl;dr on you, but I get so sick of the argument about the movies. People tend to forget that they're adaptations and comparing them to the books is just going to lead to disappointment. I say enjoy them for what they are and have fun on the ride.

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
I agree with mertonfanatic. It's like the movie 'Eragon' - the books were awesome and I adored every second of it, but the actual story didn't really start till about a quarter of the way through the book. It was all the boring stuff about his dragon growing up, albeit very quickly but still over a rather long period of time.
The movie was amazing and I loved it as a movie. I didn't like it as an adaptation, however, because it cut out far too many important facts and scenes that would have translated beautifully to film (in my opinion). As a movie, it explained everything it needed to and had a set plot, climax, conflict etc. but it felt a little flat to someone who'd read the book. I think that adaptations should stick fairly close to the original but the Eragon one didn't do it as well as I had hoped. Still, the movie was very good as a movie to someone who didn't have the book bugging in the back of their head.

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
I agree with both of you... it's not so much that I hate the movies... I just hate the movies as someone who has more or less consumed the books. Naturally, there's that part of me that gets disappointed when they cut things out that I would have loved to see played out on screen (the Fred and George mayhem - especially the portable swamp - comes to mind here. I would have loved to see that filmed exactly as written). Anywho.... I just want to see the movie. Whyyyy do these things take so long??

Re: Where the 7th movie should be cut...
Eh I'd rather have it take a long time and get a good movie than to have a quick turn around.
And yeah, I agree, that's one scene I wish they didn't cut. But what ya gonna do you know? Although I will be disappointed if they cut Mcgonagall's chair scene and Molly's "not my daughter!!" scene during the fight sequence. I'm looking forward to those most of all.
